Summary:
This study is assessing how safe and effective testosterone replacement therapy is for people with low testosterone (hypogonadism) and cardiovascular disease, such as a history of heart attack or stroke. The primary purpose of this study is to compare the effects of testosterone replacement therapy on major CV events such as heart attack and stroke in men who do not produce enough testosterone and have symptoms from not enough testosterone.
Qualified Participants Must:
Have a history of heart disease, including prior heart attack, stent placement, stroke, or bypass
Have at least one symptom of low testosterone such as decreased sexual desire or libido, decreased energy, or low or depressed mood
Have not taken any products that affect testosterone levels in the last six months
Have intact skin surfaces on the upper shoulders and arms to which gel can be applied
Have no history of prostate or breast cancer
Have a BMI below 50
