Summary:
Multicenter, randomized, double blind, placebo controlled trial to evaluate the use of oral mesalamine pellets 1.6 gm daily to maintain remission of mild to moderate ulcerative colitis.
Qualified Participants Must:
• Be in remission for 1 to 6 months
• Have no immunosuppresives for 90 days, no corticosteroids for 30days
• Have no prior bowel surgery
• Not be taking nsaids, oral antibiotics, metamucil, Proton Pump Inhibitors, loperamide, or opiates for diarrhea, 5 ASA or coumadin.
