ADHD is one of the most common mental disorders affecting children and adolescents. Current medications do not work for everyone and sometimes stop working over time. In addition, some patients experience side effects from medication. Non-medical treatments such as a video game-like therapy for ADHD could offer a new approach.
Up to 165 participants across the United States will be enrolled. Participation will last about 4-weeks and will involve two in-clinic visits. All participants will continue taking their usual ADHD medication (if any) throughout the duration of the study. All participants will be asked to play an investigational video game-like therapy app on an iPad. You do not need to own an iPad to participate. An iPad will be loaned to all study-participants for use during the study.If you and your child choose to participate, both of you will a!end two study visits. During each visit, study staff will ask you and your child questions your child will perform some tasks on a computer. Participation in this study is expected to last about 4 weeks. You may choose to stop participating at any time.
This study may be a good fit for your child if he or she:
Is between 13-17 years of age
Has a confirmed diagnosis of inattentive or combined-type ADHD
Is able to play a video game for about 25 minutes a day for at least 5 days/week on an iPad®
Is stably on or off ADHD medication and can continue to be stably on or off ADHD medication for the duration of this 4-week study.
