Clinical Trial 48852

Miami, FL 33122

Summary:

The cause of Relapsing Multiple Sclerosis (RMS) is still unknown and the severity and symptoms for any one person cannot be predicted. RMS symptoms can vary for each individual and change in severity over time. Some early signs are weakness, tingling, numbness and blurred vision. Other symptoms include muscle stiffness, memory loss and urinary problems.

Relapsing Multiple Sclerosis (RMS) has a wide range of symptoms that can change overtime. Symptoms can include fatigue, difficulty walking, numbness in the legs or feet, vision problems, muscle weakness and spasticity and cognitive issues.

RMS is characterized by defined relapses of new or worsening MS symptoms. These relapses can last for days, months or years.

The symptoms of RMS vary from person to person and may include things like:

Causes of RRMS

In RRMS, the immune system attacks myelin, a layer of tissue that serves to insulate and protect your nerves. These attacks affect the function of underlying nerves. The resulting damage cause MS symptoms.

What exactly causes RRMS and other types of MS is currently unknown. A combination of genetic and environmental factors, such as smoking, vitamin D deficiency, and certain viral infections, may play a role.
