Summary:

Click image to enlargeA new study to test a potential treatment for Systemic Lupus Erythematosus (SLE) is now enrolling. If you or a loved one have been diagnosed with Lupus, consider participating in this important research to help advance future treatment options.
Qualified Participants Must:- Have you had a diagnosis of Systemic lupus erythematosus (SLE) for at least 6 months? (Answer must be Yes)
- Have you had a diagnosis for a rheumatic disease besides SLE or an inflammatory joint or skin disease other than SLE? (i.e., rheumatoid arthritis or rheumatic heart disease, systemic sclerosis) Fibromyalgia and Sjogren's are ok. (Answer must be No)
- Do you have a history or are you at risk for thromboembolism, myocardial infarction (heart attack), stroke, antiphospholipid syndrome, or atrial fibrillation? (Answer must be No)
- Are you on antithrombotic treatments? (anti-coagulants, Plavix, etc.) (Answer must be No)
- Have you been taking at least one of the following for the past 3 months: (Answer must be Yes amd Must have been taking the same dose for 3 months)
One or more antimalarials:
One immunosuppressant:
Azathioprine (Imuran)
Mycophenolate mofetil (Cellcept)
Cyclosporine (Neoral, Sandimmune, Gengraf)
Methotrexate (Rheumatrex)
Leflunomide (Arava)
Cyclophosphamide (Cytoxan)
Chlorambucil (Leukeran)
Nitrogen mustard (Mustargen)
One oral corticosteroid: no greater than 30 mg/day prednisone (or equivalent, such as cortisone or methylprednisolone)
Qualified Participants May Receive:
There is no cost to participate in this study and no health insurance is required. Participants may be compensated $60 for each in-office visit and $25 for each home visit
