Clinical Trial 56726

Montrose, CA 91020

Summary:

Participants will be provided with 2 different coffees and will meet with the researcher virtually at 3 different points:

1. Enrollment: This takes about 1 hour where all enrollment paperwork will be completed (demographics, health questionnaire, coffee intake questionnaire), followed by a practice run of the tests that will be completed on test days.

2. For the first coffee: participants will meet with the researcher before drinking the coffee, 5 hours after drinking the coffee, then 24 hours after drinking the coffee. At each point, a series of mood questionnaries and tests that measure things like memory, attention, and problem-solving skills will be completed. It will take you approximately 30 minutes to complete the tests and questionnaires. It is important that you complete these tests at the requested times and that you have not eaten or drank anything for 2 hours before taking the tests. After drinking the coffee given to you, you will not be allowed to drink any other coffee that day.

3. For the second coffee: participants will schedule a time 1 week or more after the first coffee to meet with the researcher and complete the same procedue listed above in #2.

On test days, you will be asked to consume the same meal(s). If you usually skip breakfast, that is okay, just make sure to stay consistent on both test days. For lunch and snacks, you will be given a list of specific foods to avoid. There will be no restrictions to your last meal or snack of the day.

If you agree to take part, the experimenter will arrange the online sessions for whenever suits you as close as possible to the timepoints mentioned above.
