Currently Recruiting: Outcomes and Health Economics of Stroke using Rhythmic Auditory Stimulation (RAS)
Key Questions
- Did you have a stroke more than 6 months ago?
- Do you have trouble walking?
- Are you interested in participating in a clinical trial?
Background
Join a clinical trial that studies a music and rhythm-based device for improving walking in stroke survivors!
In simple terms, MR-001 may help you walk better by listening to music while you walk! The system combines sensors that capture real-time walking information with headphones that deliver personalized rhythmic music.
Approximately 250 participants aged 18 to 85 will be enrolled in the study. Each participant will have access to the device for 12 weeks, followed by a 12-week period without it. At the end of this period, 50% of the participants will be selected to use the device again for an additional 12 weeks.
Comparisons will be made between those who receive the device a second time and those who do not. This will help us determine the effects of MR-001 on walking speed, endurance, and how you use healthcare services.
Participants will need to visit a local testing site 6 times, participate in remote video visits with study staff, and take 3 walks per week for either one or two 12 week periods. It is expected that each participant will take part in this study for one year (52 weeks).
Who may participate?
Each clinical study has its own guidelines for who may participate. These guidelines are called eligibility criteria, which can include your age, sex, overall health, and medical history. All races, education levels, and geographic areas will be eligible for enrollment. All individuals must meet the eligibility criteria to be enrolled, as determined by the study staff and study protocol.
Conditions
- Chronic stroke - continued recovery 6 months after a stroke
- Difficulty walking due to chronic stroke
