Summary:
Apex Research Institute is now enrolling volunteers for a Cholesterol research study. You may be eligible if you are –Age 45 or older –Are taking a statin (such as Lipitor, Zocor, Crestor, Pravachol, Mevacor, or Lescol) to manage your cholesterol or have been told you have high cholesterol but have not started on medication yet –Are willing to start or continue to take Lipitor (at no cost to you) throughout the study –Have heart disease or are at risk for heart disease
If you qualify for the study, you will receive at no cost to you: -Investigational drug (or placebo) –High-quality, study-related medical care -Monitoring by study doctor –Study-related medical examinations –Dietary counseling –Lipitor –Carotid artery ultrasound (a painless, non-invasive test for measuring heart disease risk) –Compensation up to $745 upon study completion
