Summary:
Our office is currently participating in a clinical research study for treatment of ulcerative colitis. Symptoms include frequent bowel movements, diarrhea stools, blood with bowel movements, and sometimes accompanied by abdominal discomfort. The study medication is Natura-alpha, termed investigational as it is currently not approved by US Food and Drug Administration (FDA).
Qualified Participants Must:
Be 18 to 70 years of age
Have ulcerative colitis symptoms that are not in remission or flaring up
Have moderate to severe disease with diarrhea and rectal bleeding
Have never taken any medication, OR currently taking medication named Mesalamine (Asacol, Colazol, Dipentum, Pentasa, Salazopyrine, Claversal, Rowasa, Salofalk, Mesasal, Lialda) OR Refractory to biologic therapy, immunosuppressive treatment or anti-TNF-a
Visit the clinic up to 6 times over a period of approximately 10 weeks and complete paper diary for duration of study
Be willing to have an endoscopy procedure at screening and Day 28
Qualified Participants May Receive:
All study related office visits, study medication or placebo, lab work, EKG, sigmoidoscopy, and study procedures are provided at no cost to participants. Qualified participants will be compensated for their time and travel. Our study staff will be there to offer support and answer questions every step of the way.
