Study Summary:
We are conducting a study for patients who have constipation while taking pain medication, also called opioid-induced bowel dysfunction (OBD). Participants will complete an electronic diary each evening and will visit our center six times to complete other study procedures over 18 weeks.
Qualified Participants Must:
Be 18 years of age or older
Be taking an opioid pain medication consistently for chronic pain not related to cancer
Have constipation or OBD (less than 3 spontaneous bowel movements) without the use of laxatives/stool softeners
Qualified Participants May Receive:
Study medication to treat constipation, study related physical exams, EKGs and labs at no cost. Participants receive compensation for completed visits.
