Summary:

This is 42-week long, phase 4 study, in which you will be on a once daily insulin and a pre-meal insulin. The medications for this study are FDA approved. We are looking to see which way is better to add a pre-meal insulin to someone currently on a once daily insulin.


Qualified Participants Must:

• Have diabetes, type 2
• Be 18 years of age or older
• Be on a once daily insulin (such as Lantus, Levemir, or Novolin N or Humulin N) for at least 6 months
• Have Hba1C between 7-9%
• Be able and willing to eat 3 meals per day, and have ability to take and record blood glucose readings
• Not have ever taken any short acting insulins (such as Novolog, humalog, Apidra) or regular insulins (such as Humulin R or Novolin R)
• Have not used byetta for the last 6 months


Qualified Participants May Receive:

All study-related medications, all study-related medical care at no cost, a glucose meter and all testing supplies.
