Summary:
This is a 26-week trial in which patients will be placed on once daily insulin. All medications for this trial are FDA approved. One group of patients will receive insulin, while the other group will receive insulin and work with a registered dietician. The study is comparing weight change of the two groups.
Qualified Participants Must:
• Be 18 years of age or older
•
Have had type 2 diabetes for at least 6 months
•
Take metformin (glucophage) daily
•
Have HbA1c between 7-9%
•
Not take Actos or Avandia or Byetta
•
Have never taken any form of insulin in the past
Qualified Participants May Receive:
All study related medications, a glucose meter and all testing supplies, and all study-related medical care at no cost to you.
