Summary:

Do you have COPD? COPD can cause daily activities to become difficult. As the disease progresses, even simple tasks such as walking up and down stairs can cause a person to become breathless and feel a strong need for air. Many people with COPD are also at risk for heart disease, also known as cardiovascular disease.

This clinical research study is being conducted worldwide to test the long-term benefits of the study drug versus placebo in reducing lung and heart complications. This study will enroll 16,000 participants who have been diagnosed with Chronic Obstructive Pulmonary Disease (COPD), and a history of heart disease, in approximately 1,100 study centers.


Qualified Participants Must:

• Have a diagnosis of moderate COPD
• Have a history of heart disease
• Be between 40 and 80 years of age
• Be a current or former cigarette smoker


Qualified Participants May Receive:

Direct access to study doctors or nurses who will answer questions and concerns, study-related physical exams, blood work and other laboratory services and investigational study drug.
