Summary:
To find out in a scientific way if low dose methotrexate reduces heart attacks, strokes, or death in people with type 2 Diabetes or metabolic syndrome who have already had at least one heart attack or have major blockages in more than one coronary artery found on a heart catheterization.
Qualified Participants Must:
• Be at least 18yrs old
• Have a past history of heart attack or stent in the major heart artery or 2 heart arteries
• Have type 2 diabetes or any 3 of the following:
- (1) High blood pressure or treatment for it.
- (2) High blood sugar or treatment for it.
- (3) High triglycerides or treatment for it.
- (4) Low HDL(good cholesterol).
- (5) Waistline more than 40ins for men and more than 34.5ins for women.
