Summary:

The purpose of this study is to understand the role of stress and decision-making in alcohol use disorder. This study involves a total of 3 visits. The first visit will take about 2 hours and can be completed in-person or
remotely over Zoom. At this visit, you will be asked to sign a consent form and complete questionnaires and interviews to determine eligibility. If you are eligible after the first visit, you will be asked to attend 2 in-person
visits on the UCLA campus, each will take 3-4 hours. At these visits, you will complete a series of questionnaires and interviews and participate in decision-making computer games. At the final visit you will
also attend a brain imaging session in an MRI scanner. 


Qualified Participants Must:

• Be between the ages of 18 and 65
• drink alcohol regularly
• Not currently be in treatment for alcohol use
• Not use any drugs (besides marijuana)
• Not have any non-removable metal/magnetic objects in body
• Not have claustrophobia


Qualified Participants May Receive:

Participants will be paid up to $180 for participating in this study ($30 for the screening visit, $50 for the second visit, and $100 for the third visit).  Participants will also have the opportunity to earn up to $30 for participating in a decision making computer game. In addition, they will be provided with free parking validation or bus fare for each in-person visit.
