Researchers are conducting a multi-center study to better understand how changes in the sense of smell may be linked to neurodegenerative conditions such as Alzheimer’s disease and Parkinson’s disease. Because the sense of smell is often affected early in these conditions, studying cells from the upper part of the nose may help scientists discover new ways to detect disease earlier and develop future treatments.
Participants in this study will have a small sample of olfactory (smell) cells collected from the inside of the nose using a minimally invasive endoscopic brushing technique. You may also choose to provide a blood sample. All samples are paired with health information—such as medical history and symptoms—to help researchers identify biological markers connected to neurodegenerative diseases.
This is a research-only study. There is no diagnosis or treatment provided, and participation will not change your current medical care. Compensation is available for your time.
